Career Summary:
Born in 1939, the late “Fat” Jack Butler was a two-sport star at Celina High School during the golden age playing both football and baseball from 1954 to 1957.
Butler had a four-year career in both sports and on the gridiron he played on a pair of historic Tobacco Bowl teams.
His baseball nickname was “Campy” after Roy Campanella and his play garnered looks from colleges, but an arm injury kept him from pursuing a career at the next level.
Nominator comment:
“Jack died on August 1, 2005 without much recognition for his accomplishments as a high school athlete, while many of his teammates have been enshrined into the Hall of Fame. Our hope is that he will have the privilege of joining them in the future.”
